WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Wichita Police Department arrested Ken Thomas, 62, of Wichita, on two counts of aggravated assault.

The police department said that around 10:35 pm on Friday, police officers responded to a shootout in block 2300 on North Broadway.

The police say that on arrival, they located a 19-year-old man who was shot in the hand and in the torso by what appeared to be bullets from a shotgun. The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries.

Police said that while in hospital, a second 17-year-old victim arrived who was shot in the torso by bullets from a shotgun. He was also treated for non-fatal injuries.

The investigation revealed that the two victims entered the Treatco factory property on block 2300 on North Broadway when they were approached by Thomas, who owns the property. Thomas fired several shots from a shotgun at the men, hitting them, according to authorities.

The police say they contacted Thomas at Treatco’s estate, and he was arrested without incident. A shotgun was also recovered.

The investigation is ongoing and the case will be brought to the Sedgwick County Prosecutor’s Office.
