Prominent cheat website for GTA Online closes “after discussions with Take-Two” • Eurogamer.net

A prominent GTA Online cheat website closed after “discussions” with publisher Take-Two.

LunaCheats, a popular website that sold GTA Online hacks, now contains a single message notifying visitors that it has withdrawn its cheat menu services and has stopped all maintenance and development.

The website said it would donate its profits to a charity chosen by Take-Two.

“We apologize for any and all problems that our software has caused to the Grand Theft Auto Online community,” says the message.

GTA Online has always had problems with hackers and modders on the PC, but it is believed that the problem increased when the multiplayer game was made available for free download on the Epic Games Store in May 2020.

Hackers and modders disrupt public lobbies in a variety of ways, including generating hundreds of vehicles, such as airplanes, which in turn crash servers. They can even trap players in cages.

Take-Two faces a difficult challenge, eliminating GTA Online cheaters, of course. This is a problem faced by all online game developers, with Call of Duty: Warzone publisher Activision, most recently under pressure to increase Battle Royale’s anti-cheat.
