Progressive group survey finds Trump underwater in Texas after riot

The poll found that at least 51% of prospective voters in Texas said they had at least a “somewhat” unfavorable view of the former president after the January 6 events, with 42% saying that his view of Trump was “very unfavorable”.

Forty-nine percent of likely voters had unfavorable opinions about President Biden, while 42% of likely voters had unfavorable opinions about the former deputy. The poll also found that 36 percent of Republican Party voters in the state would support preventing Trump from running for office again, possibly the most significant break with the former president from his registered voting base so far.

Most independents and Democrats said Biden won the 2020 election fairly, according to the polls, while 64 percent of Republican Party respondents said they believed Trump was the real winner and therefore was stolen.

The Data 4 Progress poll interviewed 751 likely voters in Texas through online panel responses; the margin of error is 3.6 percentage points.
