‘I can’t go back and change what I did’: Priyanka Chopra ‘sincerely’ apologizes for appearing in ads for whitening creams and felt ‘sad’ to see them
Priyanka Chopra apologized for making a series of ads for skin lightening creams, calling it one of the biggest ‘mistakes’ of his career.
The 38-year-old actress has already participated in Pond’s Garnier cream ads and now wishes she had not.
Writing in her new unfinished memoir, Priyanka said, ‘I can’t go back and change what I did, but I can apologize, and I do it sincerely.’

In an ad, the actress was seen losing her boyfriend to a lighter-skinned woman only to win him back after she started using whitening creams.
Asked how she felt when she first saw the ad, she told The Guardian: ‘I felt really sad. I saw myself through my 13 year old eyes when I was making mixtures in my bathroom trying to lighten my skin tone. ‘
An old interview of the star resurfaced last year, where she said: ‘I am very proud to be a brunette.
‘I would never say that you need to be fair and only then will you be beautiful, because I don’t endorse that.’

The actress was accused of being hypocritical by some people on social media at the time, as the quote was shared along with the whitening cream ads.
Elsewhere during his interview, Priyanka also discussed ‘canceling culture’, saying his relationship with social media has changed because of ‘hatred and negativity’.
She said: ‘Look, we live in a world where the culture of cancellation exists so widely because it is easier to hate someone than to waste a minute to understand why someone says and does what they do.
‘I have always been someone who believes in the goodness of human beings, but it seems that as the world moves forward that we are afraid of each other and only look for the worst in each other.

‘What is the use of giving credibility to some trolls who choose to live in darkness, if I have such a large sea of supporters and have so much fun with them? So I forked and live in the light.
Priyanka said she was previously insecure about her appearance and was encouraged by her brother to enter a beauty contest when she was 17.
She won Miss India in 2000 and was crowned Miss World the same year, insisting that she never believed she would win.
Asked if she thinks beauty contests are humiliating, Priyanka said what they “generally” mean is, but said that other things like the way you speak, your compassion and you “connect with people” were highlighted in Miss World.

Priyanka also discussed his goals for the future, saying he is still trying to build a ‘formidable career’ in Hollywood.
The actress admitted it was “scary” to leave Bollywood and pursue a career in the American entertainment industry and said she feared failure at first.
Among her Hollywood roles so far are roles in Baywatch and Isn’t It Romantic, while she is scheduled to appear in the romantic drama Text For You, opposite Sam Heughan.
