Private Apex Legends games coming soon for all players

Chad Grenier, Game Director at Respawn Entertainment working on Apex Legends, confirmed that private matches will come to all players – regardless of platform – soon.

Given the incredible popularity of Apex Legends, it is somewhat surprising that battle royale does not have an ubiquitous feature of private matches. Now more than two years old, many players have asked Respawn to implement the feature, which would allow anyone to enter a closed lobby with personalized rules and players.

Currently, what Apex is closest to in a private game mode is the tournament mode, which allows players to organize private lobbies if given permission and a Respawn administrator code.

Apex Legends private matches are expected to be added to the game soon.

Talking to the BrownGirlGamerCode community, Chad Grenier outlined Respawn’s intentions to add the feature in the near future, although he was unable to provide any dates for the addition.

“A few weeks ago,” he said, “we did this support [for tournament mode] crossplay too, so it can be used on the console and on the PC, or even in a mixed lobby using crossplay …

“We have a separate effort that we are making to make it public. I don’t have a schedule, but we’re trying to make it happen as soon as possible, where we offer the private game feature available to anyone who plays Apex. “

“Again, it is not as simple as just activating this feature and making it public,” he continued. “There is some work on the backend that we have to do to scale it – for so many people. But we are doing this job. It is difficult to give dates, but we hope that soon we will have private matches on all platforms and you can play different games or organize your own events without having to ask us for a code and have an official event going on. So, yes, stay tuned. “

The news will be well received by many Apex fans, who have been looking forward to adding the feature for some time. This means that players can dictate their own private lobbies, customizing rules and players to suit their needs. As Grenier stated, this will make tournaments much easier to organize, as they will no longer need a Respawn administrator code.

Although no dates have been announced, we do not expect it to be released in season 9, which is set to come out on May 3. It seems that it is still in a deep stage of development.
