The official account of the British royal family on Instagram also shared the news along with the same photo of the new family of three, alongside a caption in part: “The couple was thrilled with the good wishes they received at the birth of their first son, and we are pleased to share this first family photo. “

Eugenie shared the happy news on his Instagram the same day, posting a black and white photo of his son’s hand wrapped around one of his fingers. The new mom simply captioned the photo with three blue heart emoji and two exclamation points.

August Philip Hawke Brooksbank is not only the couple’s first child, but also the first grandchild of Eugenie’s parents, Prince Andrew, the Duke of York and the Duchess of York, as well as the ninth great-grandson of Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh.
