Prince Philip was taken to the hospital as a “precautionary measure” after feeling ill, the royal family confirmed. The 99-year-old Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to London’s King Edward VII Hospital last night on the advice of his doctor.
It is unclear exactly what the health problem is at this stage, but Buckingham Palace said that the head of royalty will likely remain in the hospital for a few days while undergoing medical observations. Real correspondent Rebecca English tweeted that the Duke of Edinburgh was taken to the hospital by car and not by ambulance. “It was not an emergency hospitalization and the disease is not related to COVID,” she shared on social networks.
The queen’s husband retired from royal duties in the fall of 2017 and has since lived largely on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic and the resulting blockages, the royal moved to Windsor Castle so that he could protect along with his wife, Queen Elizabeth.
Last month, both Prince Philip and the Queen were vaccinated with COVID-19, with age giving priority to both. The vaccines were administered by a home doctor at Windsor Castle.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh recently celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary together, after they were married on November 20, 1947. To mark the occasion, the royal house released a sweet photo of the couple opening a card handmade by their great-grandchildren , seven years old. one-year-old Prince George, five-year-old Princess Charlotte and two-year-old Prince Louis.
We wish Prince Philip a speedy recovery at the hospital, so that he can return to the Queen’s home at Windsor Castle as soon as possible.
