The Duke of Edinburgh is believed to have been increasingly concerned about the impact that his sons ‘public royal marriage problems were having on the Queen, with the monarch being criticized at the time by the press by’ nnot controlling your family ‘. Now Royal expert Dickie Arbiter told the producers of the Channel 5 documentary, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh: A King Without a Crown, as Prince Phillip reacted to the growing chaos within the Royal family.
Mr. Arbiter said to the program, “He was exasperated because all of these things were happening within the family,
“None of this was the fault of the Queen or Prince Phillip,
“But it was having an impact on the Queen and the media said why you can’t control your family.
“Well, if your son is in his 40s, you don’t tell a 40s how to behave.”
“You expect them to be able to do this on their own,” he adds.
Princess Anne’s first marriage to equestrian Mark Phillips ended after 16 years. The couple divorced in 1992, amid claims that tensions began to mount behind closed doors and allegations that the two were being unfaithful.
Meanwhile, Prince Charles’ ongoing romance with Camilla Parker-Bowles, now Duchess of Cornwall, would lead to the end of his and Princess Diana’s marriage.
Arbiter’s comments come as Prince Phillip spends his tenth day at London’s King Edward VII hospital.
Mrs. Rulli told listeners: “99 is a very good age, we should all expect to live a long and full life.
“Still, you think of the people who still love you.
“I always think about the spouse especially. So, now, how is the Queen?”
She continued, “Your husband has been in the hospital for decades. Having your life partner potentially not doing well is difficult.”
