Prince Harry said in an interview that aired on Friday that he was “backing down” from his duties as a British royal instead of “resigning” – and said that the “toxic” British media was to blame.
The prince talked about the real turmoil and other topics during an appearance on “The Late Late Show” with host James Corden.
Corden and his royal guest chatted while visiting various points around the Los Angeles area. The interview included a tour on the upper deck of a tour bus and Harry singing the rap of the 1990s TV theme song, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”.

But in Harry’s first interview since his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, stripped Harry and his wife Meghan Markle of their remaining royal duties, family matters were a key topic.

James Corden, on the left, scheduled an interview with Prince Harry which aired on Friday on “The Late Late Show”.
Harry told Corden that he was putting his family’s interests first. (He and Markle have a son, named Archie, and recently announced that they are expecting another child.)
“It was taking a step back instead of going down,” Harry told Corden. “It was a very difficult environment, which I think a lot of people saw, so I did what any parent would do and I thought, ‘How do I get my family out of here?’ But we never stray, and as far as I’m concerned, whatever decisions are made on that side, I never leave. “
As for the British press, she added: “We all know what the British press could be like, and it was destroying my mental health, I was like it was toxic. So I did what any husband and what any father would do is like, I I need to get my family out of here. “

The former royalty eventually moved to southern California after leaving Britain, with a stop in Canada in the middle.
Arresting the interview with Harry helped Corden discover Oprah Winfrey, whose conversation with Harry and Markle is scheduled to air on March 7, according to The Associated Press.
