Harry said he “can’t imagine what it must have been like” for Diana to have a similar experience, in one of the two videos released on the show.
The discussion is the couple’s first interview since they resigned as working members of the royal family last year.
“I’m really relieved and happy to be sitting here talking to you with my wife next to me,” said Harry in the clip. “Because I can’t even imagine what it must have been like for her to go through this process alone so many years ago.”
“It’s been incredibly difficult for both of us, but at least we had each other,” he said, sitting next to Meghan on an outdoor set.
In another clip, Harry adds that his “biggest concern was history repeating itself”, apparently another reference to his mother’s experience.
The clips also show Winfrey asking Meghan and Harry a series of questions, although their answers are not seen. At one point, the interviewer tells the couple that there is no “off-topic” in the discussion, and she then says “you said some very shocking things here”.
“Were you silent or were you silenced?” Winfrey asks Meghan at another point in the promotion, which promptly cuts off the duchess’s response. Meghan is not heard in any of the promotional clips.
The interview is scheduled to air on March 7 and is expected to touch on a number of topics, including the support that Meghan received from royalty.
Harry and Meghan have not participated in media engagements in the year since they left the royal family, a change that caused a crisis at Buckingham Palace in early 2020.
“We all know what the British press can be like and it was destroying my mental health,” said Harry during the segment with Corden. “I was like, this is toxic. So I did what any husband and father would do.”
