Prince Harry and William “pledged” to jointly inaugurate the statue of Princess Diana

Prince William and Harry are “still committed” to meeting for the opening of a statue of their late mother, Princess Diana, in London this summer.

The Duke of Cambridge yesterday became the first member of royalty to address the series of allegations made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in his explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this week.

William admitted that he hadn’t even spoken to Harry about the TV show – five days after it aired – however, royal editor Russel Myers said today that the duo is still ready to show a united front at the end of their year in honor of to the Princess of Wales.

Appearing at Lorraine this morning, Myers predicted a ‘monumental period’ for the two brothers, whose split was revealed once again after the statements made by Harry and Meghan in their explosive interview.

He said: ‘William is still engaged, like Harry, to meet on July 1 for the inauguration of the Princess Diana statue in Kensington Gardens.

‘So this can be a monumental period for these two brothers. We have talked about this split for so long, but it would make them come together for a greater good and I am sure that everyone will be delighted if it happens. ‘

The brothers will meet again when they reveal the statue commissioned for their mother, Princess Diana, on July 1 at Kensington Palace, on what would have been her 60th birthday.

During his interview with Orpah on Sunday, Prince Harry referred to the fight with his brother, saying: ‘As I said before, I love William in pieces. He is my brother. We went through hell together. I mean, we have a shared experience. But we are on different paths. ‘

The hope of fixing a feud between the brothers comes after William insisted that royalty was ‘not a racist family’ when he and his wife Kate visited a school in East London to support a mental health support service for young people.

Russell went on: – We didn’t hear from the palace directly, but the people I spoke to said indirectly that the Queen and Carlos were quite happy that William had spoken.

‘So, I think it shows you the tension that has increased a lot in the last few days

It is totally unprecedented for royalty to speak to reporters in this way. Charles was at a vaccination center during the week and was asked if he had seen the interview and let out a nervous laugh.

– But William attacked head-on, and I think he’s being wildly celebrated for it.

When Sky News reporter Inzamam Rashid shouted two questions about their departure, William did not blink. – Sir, have you spoken to your brother since the interview? he asked.

Russell continued, “We didn’t hear from the palace directly, but the people I spoke to said indirectly that the Queen and Carlos were quite happy with William’s speech.”

The prince replied shortly: ‘I haven’t talked to him yet, but I will.’

As William and Kate walked, the reporter persisted: ‘Can you just tell me if the Royal Family is a racist family?’

William turned so that his voice could be heard and said, clearly and firmly, despite his mask, “We are not a racist family.”

The frustration in his voice and on his face was clear. Kensington Palace declined to comment, saying that the duke had said everything he wished.

The prince’s comments were praised by informants, who said the 38-year-old man did “very well, given the emotion and enormity of it all”.

Question: 'Is the Royal Family a racist family, sir? Answer: We are NOT a racist family

In short: William responded yesterday to questions asked by the Sky reporter visiting a school in London with Kate and an unidentified woman about whether the Royal Family was racist. ‘We are NOT a racist family’, William answered the question

His rebuttal came after Buckingham Palace issued a statement on Tuesday on behalf of the Queen expressing the family’s sadness at knowing ‘the extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan’.

William and Harry announced the order of the statue on the 20th anniversary of their mother’s death in 2017, and the initiative is one of the few remaining joint ventures.

The princes have assembled a committee to commission and raise private funds for the creation of the statue and hope it will help all those who visit Kensington Palace to reflect on their mother’s life and legacy.

There is still uncertainty about whether the duke will also participate in other events like Trooping the Color on June 12 or the Duke of Edinburgh’s 100th birthday on June 10 due to the arrival of his second child this summer.
