Prince Harry and Meghan are reportedly seeking an extension of their 12-month “Megxit” agreement that would allow them to continue as non-working royalty in California.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex plan to meet senior royalty during Zoom in January, before Harry travels to the UK – depending on COVID’s restrictions – to close the deal, The Sun reported on Saturday.
Harry and Meghan’s current deal with Buckingham Palace allows them to maintain their royal sponsorships, or charitable support duties, but is expected to expire on March 31.
The two are eager to maintain their sponsorships, noted The Sun.
Meghan’s sponsorships include organizations that promote women’s empowerment, universal education and animal welfare.
Harry’s title includes his title as president of the non-profit charitable organization of African Parks and the Invictus Games Foundation.
Harry also hopes to recover the honorary military positions that were taken from him during Megxit, reported The Sun.
News of the upcoming negotiations comes after Harry and Meghan closed deals with Netflix and Spotify for $ 100 million and $ 30 million each.
Senior royals will review these agreements to ensure they meet “His Majesty’s values,” the vehicle said.
The couple angered the royal family by announcing on social media in January that they wanted to step down as senior king so they could live an independent life in the United States.
Harry and Meghan also want to return to the UK for Queen Elizabeth II’s 95th birthday in April, for Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh’s 100th birthday in June and for the inauguration of a statue of Princess Diana in what was to be its 60th birthday on July 1, The Sun reported.
