Ever wondered what powers an Runabout? How generations of Cardassians and later Federation engineers helped to keep Terok Nor, right? Deep Space Ninein space station holder, apparently operating on nothing but Miles O’Brien’s disdain? Good news: this week came the only book you wanted to read, and we take a look inside.

Out this week from Eaglemoss and Hero Collector’s Star Trek range, Simon Hugo and Ben Robinson’s Deep Space Nine: The Illustrated Handbook offers fans an in-universe view of the technology behind one of most loved Trek shows around. From Federation runabouts to the legacy of Cardassian design, Sisko’s team has to deal with transforming the DS9 into a center of interest for the Federation and Bajorans, even breaking the Challenger, the vanguard of Starfleet’s war against the Dominion, the book is full of artwork and photos of the DS9 highlighting everything that makes the titular station work.

To celebrate the book’s launch, we took an exclusive look at some spreads detailing the Federation’s enhanced support ship, the Runabout, and how these Runabouts and other ships docked in many DS9 ports, whether to be permanently stationed at the outpost or at pass on your way to Bajor, the Gamma Quadrant and beyond.
