The project accompanies Lebowitz, known for its sharp humor and social commentary, as it travels through the city of which it has become synonymous.
“Fran Lebowitz knows what she likes – and what she doesn’t like. And she won’t wait for an invitation to tell you, ”Netflix says of the project, scheduled to launch on January 8.
He also brings interviews with the 70-year-old essayist, which allows him to regret the problems he sees in his city – in the trailer, Lebowitz looks at the subway system and the existence of a bookstore in the middle of Times Square.
“For decades, the critic and essayist expressed his opinions, sometimes in a grumpy way, always in a turbulent way,” said Netflix.
“A New Yorker at heart, Lebowitz elevated direct conversation to an art form, packing his serious observations about the city and its inhabitants in a vigorous and continuous comment that spares no one.”
The project sees Scorsese return to the streaming platform after the release of his 2019 epic film “The Irishman”, starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci.
On January 7, Netflix will launch another production supervised by the legendary director. “Pieces of a Woman”, executive produced by Scorsese, follows a couple who undergoes a spontaneous abortion.
The New Year period is typically busy for new launches in streaming services, and Netflix is seeing growing competition from younger rivals.
