Cruz, 10 Republican Party senators are opposed to ‘fewer election votes and even’ a 10-day emergency audit

There is no evidence to support the claims, and Trump’s legal team, like other Republican groups, has had dozens of lawsuits dismissed by courts at all levels, including the Supreme Court. Still, Trump now has members of the House and Senate willing to object to the Electoral College’s certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory. According to Axios, if both a deputy and a senator object to the results of an individual state in the next week, the House and Senate will go to their chambers and vote if they hold up a challenge. While there is support for this in the Republican Party, the movement seems unlikely to accumulate enough in any of the chambers of Congress. The House has a Democratic majority and even though the Republican Party still has the Senate until January 6, several Republican senators have expressed opposition to attempts to overturn the results of the Electoral College, including Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky. ).
