President Donald Trump issued another round of pardons on Wednesday, which included his former campaign manager and his son-in-law’s father.
In all, Trump gave 26 pardons on Wednesday, in addition to the 15 he issued on Tuesday.
Notable pardons include former campaign manager Paul Manafort, former campaign advisor Roger Stone and Charles Kushner, father of his son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Last year, Manafort was sentenced to 43 months in prison after being convicted on eight counts of tax and banking fraud. Manafort was released from federal prison earlier this year due to concerns over COVID-19.
Stone, who previously had his sentence commuted by Trump, was convicted on charges of tampering and obstructing witnesses stemming from Special Lawyer Bob Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 elections.
Charles Kusnher was convicted in 2004 for tax evasion, illegal campaign contributions and tampering with witnesses. Kushner was sued by Chris Christie, who supports Trump’s.
“I mean, it’s one of the most disgusting and disgusting crimes that I prosecuted when I was a US lawyer. And I was a US attorney in New Jersey, Margaret, so we had some disgusting and disgusting crimes going on there, ”said Christie last year in an interview with Margaret Hoover of PBS.
The practice of issuing controversial pardons in the past days and weeks on the job is not uncommon. For example, in 2017, President Barack Obama’s pardon by Chelsea Manning and Bill Clinton’s pardon from his stepbrother Roger Clinton in 2001 were debated at the time.
