Graham Hopes Trump Remains’ Leader ‘of GOP, Says Enemies’ Will Be’ Erased ‘If They Attempt to Stop Him
Senator Lindsey Graham (R., SC) on Wednesday warned his fellow Republicans that if they try to “delete Donald Trump from the party, you will be deleted”. “I hope the people in our party understand the party itself,” he told Fox News hours after President Joe Biden was installed. “Most Republicans like their policies. Many Republicans like your style, ”said Graham. “Many people are disappointed with him personally at times, but appreciate the results he has achieved for our country.” Asked if he thinks Trump will try to found another political party – according to the Wall Street Journal, the former president is toying with the idea of forming a “Patriot Party” – Graham said he hoped Trump would not, adding that he would like to to see him “remain the leader of the Republican Party”. He defended Trump’s presidency as “a good four years for judges, to rebuild the military, to bring order to the border, for historic peace deals in the Middle East.” He also praised the appointment of three Supreme Court justices by the former president. “I hope President Trump understands that his legacy and his best future are with the Republican Party,” he said. He added that withdrawing Trump from the party “would be a disaster … The only way Democrats can survive is for the Republican Party to collapse. The best way for the Republican Party to fall apart is to try to move on without Donald Trump. ”Several Republicans have repudiated Trump in recent weeks after a crowd of his supporters invaded the United States Capitol on January 6, leaving five dead. A handful of House Republicans joined the Democrats in the vote to impeach the president for “inciting insurrection”
