Warner Bros is moving O Sopranos prequela photo The Many Saints of Newark from March 12 to September 24. New line is being launched.
Remember that WarnerMedia has announced that its entire 2021 project will go to the cinema and HBO Max at the same time, but major chains like AMC are negotiating terms film by film. This means that not everything Warners is launching will be played in cinemas that are open from coast to coast. It seems conceivable that Saints is completely ready for HBO Max, as it is a prequel to the Emmy-winning HBO mob series. Yet, Saints received a green light two years ago as a theatrical release even before the streaming service existed. A shift to September positions Saints for a time of year when more cinemas are potentially open, not to mention that it also puts the film into consideration for the 2021-22 awards season. Most distributors in the first quarter are either delaying theatrical releases or placing them directly at home.
Alan Taylor directs The Many Saints of Newark of a script Sopranos creator David Chase and Lawrence Konner. Chase, Konner and Nicole Lambert are producing. James Gandolfini’s son, Michael Gandolfini, plays the younger version of Tony Soprano, the Jersey his father played. Alessandro Nivola is Dickie Moltisanti, Billy Magnussen is Paulie Walnuts, Corey Stoll is Junior Soprano and John Magaro is Silvio Dante. The cast also includes Leslie Odom Jr., Jon Bernthal, Michaela De Rossi, John Magaro, Ray Liotta and Vera Farmiga.
