Powerlifter Dan Bell becomes the first man to total more than 1,179 kilograms (2,600 pounds) raw with wraps

Less than three months after Petr Petras reached the gross total world record with Dan Bell wrappers, Bell regained the record monumentally at the Hybrid Showdown 3 in Miami, Florida on February 21, 2021. Bell totaled 1,182.5 kg (2,607 pounds). He is the first lifter to reach this total in the Raw With Wraps category.

Bell came with 396 pounds (180 kg), which placed him in the over 140 kg category. He started his day by doing three easy squats on his back. The first was 465 kg (1,025 pounds), followed by 483 kg (1,065 pounds). He completed the first survey of the day, breaking the world record with 500 kilos (1.102 pounds), which frankly looked like a speed representative. Then it was the bench press. Once again, Bell went from three to three. Its opener weighed 250 kilograms (551 pounds) and then went on to 267.5 kilograms (590 pounds). This second attempt went up just as quickly. Bell then finished on the bench press with an easy 272.5 kg bench press (600 pound bench press). He performed all three pressures with a false grip, which is when the lifter forgets to wrap his thumb around the bar while pressing.

He placed his bet on the world record in the first attempt at deadlifts, where he pulled 390 kg (859 pounds) quite easily. Wanting to add even more weight to his newly minted ATWR, Bell approached the bar for a second attempt, this time with 410 kg (904.5 pounds) on the bar. Bell got up so fast with the weight that he took a few steps with the bar, which led him to the red light. He took one last try on the last try of his day and got it right. As a result, he is now the first man to total more than 1,179 kg (2,600 pounds) of all time. in the Raw With Wraps category.

With this demonstration of weightlifting mastery, Bell now has Raw With Wraps and Total Raw in his possession again. He established the gross mark in February 2020 with a total of 1,126 kg (2,485 pounds) and then managed to add an extra 55 kg to that performance a year later. Where does Bell go from here? We’re not sure. But for now, the man deserves a day of rest.
