Just as college bucket devotees rush to complete their keys every year, no doubt more than anything else in professional golf, Match Play is the best way for fans to connect emotionally and still succeed in relation to others. , since seeds are just facts more often than friction.

In the first four rounds of Match Play in Austin CC, only 23 of the possible 64 main seeds in each pod survived the group stage format. Sixteen advanced from the grouping rated 17-32 after entry, 14 passed the golfers rated 33-48, and 11 of the last 16 played. Perhaps the best example of competitive balance came in 2018, when Dustin Johnson was 0-3-0 as the current champion and seed of the tournament.

You can play the Support challenge for the bragging rights and for a fantastic prize package. It’s free to play. Consider the AUTOPICK feature and select from the general seed or probabilities. You can also copy my support as your own. If you select any one, you can customize as usual from there.

It has been two years since the last edition of Match Play, there are 22 participants for the first time on the field. Only the four-man pods headed by Tyrrell Hatton and Justin Thomas do not include at least one rookie.

Whenever this game is the format, a unique power rating can be built for each round. Matchups and momentum are the primary components that set expectations, so a full tournament Power Rankings should be consumed with a grain of salt. What doesn’t change is the course, of course.

Austin CC is a par 71 with three par 5s. It leans in just 7,108 yards. The only relevant change is that the bunkers have new sand (the result of a drainage update project). TifEagle Bermuda greens are sown and marked for 12 feet on the Stimpmeter. The only cut of bermuda fairways with rough sown and other areas of shorter grass is five centimeters, and is not sown.

The weather will get worse before it gets better. A delay due to adverse conditions on Wednesday cannot be ruled out. The showers will last until Thursday morning, before the dry air takes over and stops all weekend. And, of course, given its location, the wind will be a direct line for most of the week. The knowledge of the course and the experience applied to it must have value as a result.

After posing for photos with the Walter Hager Cup, the champion will receive 550 FedExCup points and PGA TOUR membership until at least 2023-24. As usual, if a non-member prevails, his equivalent of FedExCup points collected in any of the WGCs completed this season will not contribute to his membership total if he accepts his card.
