Monique Samuels is lowering his glass of champagne and not returning for the sixth season of Potomac’s real housewives. The star, who entered the second season, announced the news on Instagram Live on December 27, shortly after the third part of the fifth season’s meeting aired. “It’s not easy to do reality shows and, to be honest, I got over it,” she told fans. “I appreciate everything that people have done for me, everyone who is part of Team Monique – I love you, I thank you all – but when you cross certain lines, there is no going back.” Samuels seemed to be indirectly referring to his fight with star Candiace Dillard, which reverberated throughout the season. After an argument on a trip to a winery, Samuels stayed with Dillard, with producers eventually separating the two. It became a big plot, with women taking sides, Dillard accusing Samuels (who was later removed) and the two avoiding each other after the fight. This generated a discussion about stereotypes and anti-blackness among fans of the show, which Samuels also seemed to address on his Live. “I wanted to represent the true love of black people and show people something outside of what the stereotype has been on TV,” she said. “Unfortunately, this season, I played straight into that stereotype.”

In the final episode of the previous night’s meeting, Samuels apologized directly to Dillard. “This fight was not about you,” she said. “Nothing you said at that moment justified the answer you received, and I offer my apologies. I’m sorry for the pain you’re still going through, and I hope you will be able to heal and move on. ”Samuels also seemed to address rumors that she cheated on husband Chris Samuels both at the meeting and on her show. “The opinion of my family and my children and what they think about everything I do is more valuable than anyone else’s opinion, so I got over it,” she said on Instagram.

Samuels joins a series of housewives who left the franchise this year, along with Real Orange County HousewivesVicki Gunvalson and Tamra Judge, New York City real housewivesby Tinsley Mortimer and Dorinda Medley, Real Beverly Hills housewivesDenise Richards and Teddi Mellencamp de Real Atlanta HousewivesNeNe Leakes and Eva Marcille, and Dallas real housewivesLeAnne Locken.
