  • A new leak suggests that we could see the launch of the Google Pixel 5a on June 11, 2021.
  • This information comes from the pourer I sometimes need Jon Prosser.
  • Prosser says he doesn’t know which Pixel smartphone could be launched that day, but it would probably be the 5th.

If you’re excited about the next Google Pixel phone, we have some possible information to share. According to pourer Jon Prosser, a new Pixel smartphone may be launched on June 11, 2021.

Prosser says he doesn’t know which Pixel smartphone could be launched that day. However, if the date is accurate, it would almost certainly be the Google Pixel 5a. June is too early for the launch of the Google Pixel 6, for example, and we have no information to suggest that there will be another Pixel line coming in 2021.

Unfortunately, Prosser does not have a stellar track record when it comes to leaked information like this. The only reason we mention this is that your date is very specific. For example, in the same tweet in which he states this new Pixel release date, he also says that a new set of Pixel Buds could land in “mid-April”. It is not always that Prosser rules out a date as specific as the one he is suggesting for the Google Pixel 5a.

Still, the June 11 date is a little suspicious. It is a Friday, which is not a typical day for releases of this type. Google likes to launch products earlier in the week. Pixel 4a was launched on August 3, 2020, a Monday. All Pixel smartphones prior to this one were released on a Tuesday. The only anomaly is the Pixel 5, which was launched alongside the Pixel 4a 5G on a Thursday. So you can see how a Friday release looks suspicious.

Regardless, we should start seeing more leaks related to Google Pixel 5a soon. Let’s see if this one works.
