“A greater than normal number of possible allergic reactions has been reported with a specific batch of Moderna vaccine administered at a community vaccination clinic. Less than 10 individuals needed medical attention during the 24-hour period ”.

Emphasizing the low probability of these results, similar anaphylactic episodes among recipients of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine are rare, occurring at a rate of about 1 in 100,000 injections administered.

Of this batch of vaccines, more than 330,000 doses have been administered to 287 providers in California. Only the San Diego vaccine center reported adverse reactions among patients.

“For extreme caution and also recognizing the extremely limited supply of vaccine, we are recommending that providers use another inventory of available vaccines and pause vaccine administration from Moderna Lote 041L20A until investigation by CDC, FDA, Moderna and the state is complete, ”Pan continued. “We will provide an update as we learn more.”

About 307,300 doses of vaccines from that batch are still stored. And 1,272,200 doses in total were produced in the batch under investigation.
