Position status: South Carolina defensive quarterbacks

South Carolina’s defensive field was most affected by the change in coaching staff.

Jaycee Horn and Israel Mukuamu chose to leave the remaining 2020 season, after Will Muschamp he was released from his duties as head coach. Both players declared for the NFL Draft. Cornerback John Dixon (Penn State), security Jammie Robinson (State of Florida) and security guard Shilo Sanders (State of Jackson) transferred at the end of last season.

RJ Roderick, who also gave up after Muschamp’s resignation, returned to the team after Shane Beamer took over as head coach. The senior safety – he may return in 2022 – is easily the most experienced return player in the secondary, with 31 games (22 games) in the past three seasons. Roderick has 134 career tackles with a couple of interceptions.

Injuries have limited security Jaylin Dickerson for 18 games since 2017, so its production is not that high – 33 tackles and an interception.

The maximum Darius RushThe action of (20 games) was as a contributor to special teams. He moved to the wide receiver’s cornerback during the 2019 pre-season camp.

Ex-pass security Jaylan Foster he started his career at Gardner-Webb, where he was freshman of the year at the Big South Conference. Since arriving in South Carolina in 2017, he has participated in five of the 16 games he has played.

Cornerback Cam Smith appeared in 11 games in the first two seasons. Dominick hill played cornerback and safety, but most of his action last season (five games) was on special teams. Joey hunter (four) and O’Donnell Fortune (three) also saw limited duty as first-year players.
