The couple married in August 2008 after same-sex marriage was legalized in California.

“We grew up together as a couple and we really consider ourselves and put our relationship first,” de Rossi previously told the magazine about their relationship. “In doing so, you become much more solid. I can’t imagine spending time with anyone but her.”

DeGeneres added. “We think the same things, say the same things at the same time, finish each other’s sandwiches – no, phrases. We are at a pace that is easy.”

The couple insisted that they still found new things to enjoy each other on a daily basis.

“To begin with superficially, I love how she looks,” said DeGeneres of his wife. “I love her brain; she is smart. This is very important. She is strong. She is confident. She is very funny. And she dresses well and dances well. She is learning to cook.”
