Porters officially announce three training moves

The Chargers hired Brandon Staley as the new head coach last week, and on Monday the club officially announced the newest additions to their team.

Los Angeles appointed Joe Lombardi offensive coordinator, Renaldo Hill defensive coordinator and Derius Swinton II special team coordinator.

Grandson of Hall of Fame coach Vince Lombardi, Joe has been with the Saints for 10 combined seasons, both as an offensive assistant and as a defender coach. He served as an offensive coordinator for Lions for two seasons.

“I’m so excited about Joe coming here. The wealth of knowledge and experience it has, having operated within one of the main offensive systems of the NFL for more than a decade, ”said Staley of Lombardi.

Hill, a former NFL safety for 10 seasons, has been training in the league for three seasons, one with Dolphins (assistant coach of defenders) and two with Broncos (coach of defenders).

“He’s a guy with whom I have a great personal relationship and a guy who has a lot of experience to help our team succeed,” said Staley of Hill.

Swinton has extensive experience as a coach for special teams. Previously, he served as a technical assistant to special Cardinal teams. Swinton worked as coordinator of special teams for the 49ers, in addition to training with the Bears, Broncos, Chiefs and Rams.

“Derius has tremendous command, is a great teacher and has the ability to see the game in attack, defense and kick. I cannot emphasize enough the great teacher that he is, fundamentally, both from an offensive and defensive point of view, ”said Staley of Swinton.
