Porters ask to interview Jason Garrett in coach survey

Jason Garrett is back on the NFL coach carousel.

Chargers, who fired coach Anthony Lynn on Monday, requested an interview with the Giants offensive coordinator for their vacancy, according to the NFL network.

Garrett, 54, spent 10 seasons as a Cowboys coach before not being brought back after last season. He went 85-67, but made only three playoff appearances before joining Joe Judge’s team this season. Garrett has experience mentoring young defenders like Dak Prescott and Daniel Jones. The Chargers have one of the youngest NFL flags, Justin Herbert.

Garrett’s departure to take over as head coach could be one of the Giants’ toughest off-season decisions. There is speculation that the team could pass Garrett after he led an attack that was second to last in the NFL in yards and total points ahead of the Jets alone. He also didn’t help Jones make a leap in his second season.

The Jets asked to interview Giants defensive coordinator Patrick Graham.
