To celebrate the anniversary of the original Boxster on sale in 1996, Porsche presented a new special edition of the ‘Boxster 25 years’ model. Only 1250 examples will be built, each based on the current GTS 4.0 model. That means a 4-liter six-cylinder with 394 horsepower and a 0-60 with just 3.8 seconds. It will be available with a PDK transmission or a 6-speed lever, but each will have this beautiful set of simple five-spoke bronze wheels.
Porsche calls this bronze color Neodyme, which is used in several places throughout the special edition model. In addition to the wheels, it will have on the front grille, side air intakes and all external emblems of the car. It is described as “a sparkling brown similar to copper” and contrasts with any of the three optional colors; GT Metallic Silver, Metallic Deep Black and Metallic Carrara White.
If I had a choice, I would have the black. Especially considering the interior and the upper part of each of these Boxster 25 Years old will be blood red. Oh yes, that would be really nice. You can choose to have the black interior and top, but that’s just a choice a coward would make.
It has been some time since Porsche built a wheel as attractive as this one. It doesn’t take much for a wheel to really pop, but a two-tone color paletteis a way to do just that. The 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 already has an attractive shape, so you don’t need a sophisticated and complex wheel design. This five-spoke plane is perfectly discreet. Just a little widening as the spoke meets the wheel rim is all you need.

If you want one of these things, talk to your Porsche dealer as soon as possible, because they don’t last with just 1250 units. It will not be cheap, however, since the 25 years start in the $ 98,600 plus an extra $ 1,350 for delivery. Considering the ‘standard’ 718 The Boxster GTS 4.0 has a starting price of $ 88,900, this anniversary package is a pretty hefty prize, but those wheels alone can be worth it.
