Porsche faces Taycan Turbo against 911 GT3 RS and 911 GT3 Cup: Track & Drag

The Porsche 911 is arguably one of the most iconic sports cars of all time. Time will certainly tell whether die-hard Porsche fans, as well as fans of all iconic gas-powered sports cars, will end up focusing on electric cars.

First, automakers need to prove that electric vehicles are the future. They cannot contain, hide or limit their production and sales. Instead, they must embrace them. They must tell the fans the truth, EVs are simply better.

Porsche deserves much praise for doing just that on its official YouTube channel. It pits the all-electric Porsche Taycan against two first-line variants of the legendary 911: the 911 GT3 RS and the 911 GT3 Cup. We can see these cars competing on the winding track and the drag lane. As an aside, we would also like to point out which model Porsche chose to present on the front page of its official US website: The Porsche Taycan, “Soul, electrified”.

On paper, the two variants of the 911 have a command time of ~ 3 seconds from zero to 60 mph. In the meantime, Porsche says its electric Taycan Turbo S can reach the mark in just 2.6 seconds with Launch Control, although we know it has beaten that time on many occasions.

In the video above, Porsche chooses to present the Taycan Turbo, with its 3-second time from zero to 60 mph, instead of the Turbo S. This puts the gas-powered 911s and the electric Taycan on equal terms. However, it also means that, regardless of the results, Porsche has a faster car that is out.

With all that said, we’re not going to give spoilers here. You will have to watch a short video to learn about the results.
