Porsche enters the fray, reveals 2 new stylish e-bikes and cost exactly what you would expect

Porsche’s recently announced Taycan Cross Turismo is not the only electric vehicle in the company that is making headlines this morning. The automaker has also just launched two new full suspension electric bicycles, designed both for the streets and for the trails.

The two new models, known as Porsche eBike Sport and Porsche eBike Cross, feature full suspension carbon fiber frames.

Porsche claims that the structure’s designs follow an “organic shape inspired by the Porsche Taycan lines”.

Moving the two e-bikes is Shimano’s latest medium-powered electric motor system, the Shimano EP8. The lightweight 2.6 kg (5.7 lb) magnesium box engine was introduced at the end of last year and has up to 85 Nm of torque.

On the street-facing Porsche eBike Sport, an electronic transmission Shimano transmission is combined with high-quality Magura MT hydraulic disc brakes, providing exactly the type of top-shelf component set you would expect from a named e-bike Porsche.

The brake levers are integrated into the handlebars to hide all the wires and cables, while the rear shock absorber is integrated in a similar way to the upper tube to continue the aerodynamic theme throughout the bike.

Magura also provided the sophisticated inverted front fork, while Fox provided the rear shock absorber. Supernova M99 high-specification LED lights are integrated into the handlebar and aerodynamic seat post, and Continental’s SpeedKing tires provide a smooth bearing for urban travel.

The Porsche eBike Cross optimized for off-road has a similar design, but with several components ready for tracks. Magura MT track brakes adhere to larger discs to produce less heat during intense braking, and the 12-fold Shimano XT mechanical shift system offers immediate fine-tuned shift control that the more sophisticated Porsche eBike Sport electronic shift cannot match.

The Porsche eBike Cross also has a hydraulically operated Crankbrothers dropper to allow passengers to dynamically adjust the seat height in the middle of a run.

Both Cross and Sport can reach a top speed of 25 km / h with pedal assistance, which is the legal limit for this type of electric bicycle across Europe.

The new e-bikes will be available later this spring, where they will be offered in three frame sizes at Porsche dealerships and at selected specialist stores.

The Porsche eBike Sport will be priced at $ 10,700, while the Porsche eBike Cross will be slightly more affordable, $ 8,549.

If you have the money to buy a Porsche Taycan, you will probably be part of the group that can at least consider a Porsche e-bike to buy it. And Porsche helps you if you want to take them both on the same trip.

That image at the top of the motorcycle story in the trunk of the recently announced Taycan Cross Turismo is not just for show. In fact, Porsche developed this support especially for the job.

As the company explained:

Porsche has developed a sturdy and exclusive rear trunk for the new Taycan Cross Turismo that can be easily installed and is perfectly designed to transport eBikes. Thanks to the long wheel tracks and a high payload of 50 kilos, up to two eBikes can be mounted and the rear door can still be opened during loading.
