Pompeo does not rule out a presidential race in 2024 for ‘Hannity’: ‘Always ready for a fight’

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday refused to dismiss a White House candidacy if former President Donald Trump did not seek the job in 2024, telling Fox News “Hannity” that he “was always ready for a fight”.

“I care deeply about America,” said Pompeo to host Sean Hannity. “You and I have been part of the conservative movement for a long time. My goal is to keep it going.”

Hannity said he would interpret Pompeo’s response as “perhaps a strong one”, to which Pompeo replied: “This is perfect”.

Hannity lobbied the former Trump Cabinet member about the threats facing the United States under the Biden government. Pompeo said that under the Democratic regime, foreign policy went from “America first” to “blaming America first”.

Pompeo expressed concern when discussing how Biden is being viewed by world leaders.

“World leaders and my counterparts around the world are watching closely,” said Pompeo, “Senior leadership around the world, they watch every statement that is made, they watch every move. They see what their standards are, the types of behaviors that exhibit when times are tough and when the pressure is really strong. “

Pompeo compared Trump’s constant involvement with members of the press with the lack of access under President Biden.

“President Trump would be out there. He talked to the media all the time, probably more than any modern president,” he said. “He was involved with the media on a wide range of topics … When a leader cannot do that, when he cannot answer questions, when he cannot explain the policies in which he is engaged, when he appears to be hiding – be it employees or just the fact that they don’t have time. Leaders watch and ask themselves.

“When the United States shows weakness. This creates a real risk for our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines around the world,” continued Pompeo. “Weakness breeds wars and strength determines whether an opponent will be deterred and whether allies really want to play with us when times get tough.”

Pompeo added that China represents “the most constant threat to our fundamental way of life” and urged the Biden White House to recognize it as such.

“I hope this government takes this threat more seriously,” he said. “The American people deserve it and I know they will demand it.”
