Pollard remains with the Gamecock football program

Pollard played 38 games over three seasons, with 17 receptions for 203 yards and two touchdowns. He graduated in December 2019 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies. He is one of several former Gamecock players on the off-field team in the 2021 season; joining Connor Shaw (player development), Byron Jerideau (assistant strength coach) and Shaq Wilson (defensive analyst).

Below is the statement that Pollard released in his Instagram account the day the news of his retirement came out:

“Since I was 3 years old, my life has involved football. Last week I did something that every footballer shouldn’t do, I bowed my head while blocking. As I waited at the exam table, I thought everything was right. to my surprise, after the MRI was completed and what seemed like the longest 2 hours of my life, I was informed that I would be gone for 4-6 weeks with a broken neck. I was perfectly fine with that. I did not feel pain and my body was tired, so I felt that it was necessary to rest. This week that changed when I found out that last Tuesday would be my last time playing football. Not that I can’t, but it’s not safe for me. I loved football and I always will! I wanted to rock the Willy B Stadium this year and then play in the NFL, but I know that God has bigger plans for my life! I KNOW I AM MORE THAN FOOTBALL !!! Please don’t feel sorry for me because football has been good for me. Football gave me a great education to be graduating in December this year! I’m smart enough to know that God doesn’t give anyone a gift that he doesn’t plan to use! So, one chapter ends and another begins! 87 out “
