Rumors of what to expect from the iPhone 2021 have started to gain momentum, and it looks more and more like it will be an “S” year. This is after the iPhone 12 brought a major redesign among other changes, but we want to know what you think: How will this year’s iPhone update be called?
More recently, a Bloomberg The report detailed that this year’s iPhone is expected to feature minor updates compared to the iPhone 12. In fact, the report detailed that, within Apple, engineers are considering the next iPhone as an “S” version of the device.
Leaker Jon Prosser also indicated that this year’s iPhone could bet on the iPhone 12S instead of the iPhone 13.
That said, there are still some potentially noticeable improvements to the table for the iPhone 12S. Several reports have indicated that Apple is testing a fingerprint reader on the screen that could reach the iPhone this year, in addition to Facial ID.
A recent supply chain report also indicated that the iPhone 12S will have a smaller notch. Apple reportedly was able to redesign and downsize the TrueDepth camera system that sits inside the notch. The size of the notch has remained much the same since the iPhone X.
Finally, supply chain reports also indicated that the iPhone 2021 line could include notable improvements in display technology, including support for ProMotion and even the possibility of an always-on display similar to the Apple Watch.
Another thing to consider is that there is a little bit of negativity associated with the number 13. In many countries around the world, the number 13 is associated with bad luck. Whether or not that would be a reason for Apple to skip the iPhone 13 brand entirely is unclear, but it is an interesting thing to think about.
What do you think? Will this year’s iPhone be the iPhone 12S or the iPhone 13? Or could this be the year that Apple gets rid of the numbers completely? Let us know in the poll below and give your reason in the comments!
