Police say the Virginia man arrested at the DC checkpoint had high-capacity weapons and magazines

Police in Washington, DC, on Sunday arrested a 22-year-old man from Virginia near the Capitol who they said had three high-capacity combs, a firearm and 37 rounds of unregistered ammunition.

The Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department confirmed to The Hill that officers arrested Guy Berry of Gordonsville, Virginia, at about 2:35 am on Sunday “with the listed firearm clearly visible in a holster.” According to a police report, he was carrying a Glock 22, and officials found that he was not allowed to carry a firearm in the country’s capital.

Berry was charged with possession of a large-capacity ammunition feeder, possession of unregistered ammunition, and possession of a pistol without a license.

Berry’s Facebook page featured a photo of the January 6 riot in the United States Capitol building, the Washington Post reported.

The Virginia man’s aunt, who asked not to be named, told the newspaper that he was not at the Capitol on the day the pro-Trump crowd stormed the building. She also told The Washington Post, however, that her nephew is a supporter of the president. She said that he “always carries his gun” and that “he is one of those people that he carries with him”
