Police – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Two people were found dead in a house in Old East Dallas on Thursday afternoon, hours after two policemen were injured when they were shot while answering a call at the house, Chief Eddie Garcia said.

Police officers responded shortly after 11 am on the 5300 block of Avenida Bonita, near North Henderson Avenue, where the suspect had threatened to injure his wife, police said.

Garcia said police officers were immediately shot and two were hit.

The two officers had injuries to their lower legs and were taken to Baylor University Medical Center in stable condition, according to Dallas Police Association President Mike Mata.

He thanked the Dallas Fire-Rescue, which provided cover for the police to remove the injured officers from the scene.

At around 1:37 pm, SWAT police raided the house and found a dead man and woman inside, police said.

“Praying for the deceased victim and his family,” said Garcia in a tweet.

Additional details were not immediately available.
