Police look for gunman after man shot inside his Miami-Dade home

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Florida. – Police established a perimeter in a residential neighborhood in Southwest Miami-Dade on Monday morning, after investigators said a man was shot in his own home on Monday morning.

The scene is at SW 107th Terrace, SW 138th Avenue. Miami-Dade County police say preliminary information indicates that a man entered the house and shot the victim, who was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

The shooting suspect is still on the loose, police said.

A neighbor told Local 10 News that she woke up shortly after 5 am to run and hear noises.

“Boom, boom,” she said, describing the noise. “I thought it was a transformer and the electricity would be gone any minute.”

She says she peered out and saw a car speeding up, then realized that the noise was something else.

“It had to be a rifle. It was powerful and loud, ”she said.

Several police officers remained at the scene and Miami-Dade police said the Hammocks district is still investigating.
