Police investigating Goleta shooting

GOAL, California – The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shootout in the unincorporated area of ​​Goleta on Thursday afternoon.

The suspect is still prominent in the area. The suspect was identified as a man in his 20s. He was last seen wearing baggy white jeans and a gray shirt. The county sheriff claims he is considered armed and dangerous.

The crime was reported on Thursday afternoon, around 1 pm, deputies were dispatched to the shooting site at block 600 on Burtis Street.

One person was found dead in the car and another was taken to the hospital.

A shelter was placed from Hollister to the cycle path between Turnpike and Patterson. Helicopters are flying in the area to notify residents.

A Burtis section is closed for investigation.

Police officers, along with police dogs, are on the scene on Anita Lane and Burtis Street.

Our on-site Newschannel reporter said there were some students on the Hollister Elementary School campus. There were fewer students than usual because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The school principal said that all students were fine.
