Police in Barrie, Ontario, video “looking at” a policeman beating a skateboarder with a taser

Disturbing video made in Barrie, Ontario, shows an angry policeman hitting a detainee in the head with a taser and then hitting him again with his fists. Viewers shout; the officer begins to threaten them too.

Passersby can be heard shouting that the policeman is using excessive force.

At one point, the man says, “I’m not resisting.” Shortly after, the officer hits him in the back of the head with the butt of what looks like a Taser. The man then yells, “Please help me.” Two other policemen arrive at the scene and help him roll over his stomach and restrain him.

Two of the angles filmed by viewers are synchronized in the video clip above.

In addition to the violent treatment of the victim, it is an example of a policeman playing “Simon Says” to justify this. Although the man is pinned to the ground and immobilized, the policeman demands that he move his arms behind his body, which would be clearly impossible while the policeman is on top of him, and roll on his back, also clearly impossible. He hits the man after his failure to obey.

Stop resisting. Put your hands behind your fucking back. You want this? Put your hands behind your back or I’ll light it.
