NOVA MIAMI, Ohio (AP) – A police bomb squad in response to a suspicious package call at an Ohio church made an unexpected discovery: six newborn kittens and their mother in a backpack.
Butler County Sheriff’s Office says its bomb squad was called to a church in New Miami on Thursday. When the cops responded they heard purring instead of a tick from the black bag, they used their X-ray equipment to see what was inside.
The one-day kittens and their mother were found along with a note stating that they were born on Wednesday.
“Mom’s name is Sprinkles,” read the note. “She started giving birth at 2 pm”
A post on the sheriff’s Facebook page said that the mother and the kittens “are fine and are warm, cozy and fed”. They were being looked after by a local humane society.
