Police arrest man at Chesterfield kidnapping

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Virginia – Police arrested the man accused of attacking and kidnapping a woman in a Chesterfield neighborhood on Saturday night.

Chesterfied police were called to the N. White Mountain Drive and Rotunda Lane area to report a “suspicious incident” around 7:45 pm on Saturday.

When the police arrived, they watched a surveillance video of an owner, made at 7 pm, which shows a person getting out of a vehicle, assaulting a woman and forcing her into the vehicle.

The vehicle then leaves the area by turning right on N. Enon Church Road.

The woman was found safe on Sunday, police said in an email at around 12:20 pm.

Drequan Maurice Franklin

Detectives identified the suspect as 26-year-old Drequan Maurice Franklin.

Franklin was taken into custody and charged with kidnapping, domestic assault, possession of a Class I or II drug, and possession of a firearm while carrying a Class I or II drug.

He is currently held without bail at Chesterfield County Jail.
