Pokémon Go Mareep Incense Day is Today

Pokémon Go is hosting an Incense Day to celebrate the arrival of Mega Ampharos to the game. Today, from 11 am to 5 pm local time, both dragon-type and electric-type Pokémon will appear when you have active incense. Electric type Pokémon will appear through Incense spawns from 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm, while the Dragon type Pokémon will appear via Incense spawns from 1pm to 2pm and 4pm to 5pm. In addition, Mareep will appear more frequently than Incense throughout the event. To help players participate in the Incense Day event, Pokémon Go is selling 3 Incense for 1 Poke Coin.

In addition to Mareep appearing more frequently during the event, any Ampharos evolved during the event will experience the Dragon Pulse movement, a movement that previously could only have learned during a 2018 Community Day. Dragon Pulse is particularly useful when Ampharos Mega Evolves, since Mega Ampharos is an Electric / Dragon type Pokémon and would gain the same type of attack bonus when using the attack.

Pokémon confirmed to appear during the Incense Event include: Pikachu, Magnemite, Voltorb, Chinchou, Mareep, Plusle, Minun, Stunfisk, Horsea, Dratini, Trapinch, Vibrava, Swablu and Bagon. Please note that Plusle, Minun and Bagon are all required to complete the Hoenn Celebration Event Collection Challenge.

In addition to today’s Incense Day, Pokémon Go it is also hosting the aforementioned Hoenn Celebration Event, which features an increase in the generation of several Pokémon from the Hoenn region. This includes the addition of Groudon and Kyogre in 5-Star Raids until tomorrow, Monday, January 25th. The game will then jump into a Johto Celebration event that will give players the opportunity to evolve certain Pokémon to learn moves that were previously exclusive to older Community Days. All of these celebration events lead to the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event, which gives players the chance to capture Shiny versions of all Pokémon in the Kanto region.
