PlayStation and Xbox fans upset after PS4 and Xbox One game cancellation

PlayStation fans are upset after another PS4 game was randomly canceled before launch, although this time in favor of the game being released on PS5. Since the end of last year, several PS4 games have been canceled, and now the first noteworthy cancellation of 2021 has happened, courtesy of PQube Games and Dual Effect, which announced this week that not just the PS4 version of Tormented souls it was canned, but so was the Xbox One version.

According to the first, the cancellation occurs because the pair wants to “take advantage of the new hardware and create an improved and better experience for players to enjoy”. That is, according to the duo, the cancellation is summed up in wanting to take advantage of the power that the PS5 and Xbox Series X offer, however, the game is still coming to Nintendo Switch, which is technically inferior to both PS4 and Xbox One.

As you might expect, those on the next-generation PlayStation console and the next-generation Xbox console are not very happy with the decision, nor are they impressed by the explanation. In the responses to the tweet revealing the news, you can find several disgruntled PlayStation and Xbox fans.

“Silently canceling the PS4 and Xbox One versions is already low, but canceling them to start when the game is coming to the Switch is kind of disgusting.” wrote a user in response to the news.

“As a PS4 user, I was very excited to launch this game”, added another user. “It would be disappointing if that is true and I hope you will reconsider.”

When Tormented souls launches later this year, it will be available via PS5, Xbox Series X / S, Nintendo Switch and PC. Despite the reaction, there was no word to reverse the decision to cancel the PS4 and Xbox One versions. If that changes, we will be sure to update the story accordingly. In the meantime, be prepared to upgrade to PS5 or Xbox Series X if you are on PS4 and Xbox One and want to play this one when it comes out.
