Probably not another April Fool’s joke
PlatinumGames expanded slightly on its provocative fifth reveal, which was added to the “Platinum4” website. The Bayonetta the developer notes that the mystery ad is definitely “smaller in scale” than the studio’s previous one reveals, but it’s something that fans “will enjoy”.
“We want to reveal it at the right time, but what we can say at the moment is that it was always planned as the ‘Platinum Four’, so I think expectations should be for something extra,” said Platinum co-founder Hideki Kamiya in an interview with the VGC. “That said, this is something we’ve been working on for some time.”
“We wanted to get this out a little earlier, but then the coronavirus happened, which I know is a common excuse, but we hope that when we start talking about it, it will bring a smile to the faces of our fans and we’ll have a good reaction like, ‘oh, we love those Platinum guys!’ “
It seems that perhaps we should moderate our expectations just a little for the entry announcement, which follows previous revelations of The Wonderful 101 Remastered, Kamiya’s own kaiju fighter GG Project., the new Platinum studio in Tokyo and the April Fool’s Day joke Sol Cresta. Frankly, I don’t think we’re looking at a Bayonetta 3 release date, but hopefully – whatever the surprise – it will be a nice addition to Platinum’s work.
