PlatinumGames Teasing 2021 Announcement on the Official Site, Possibly Bayonetta 3

The timing of the move to the PlatinumGames website with Hideki Kamiya’s recent interview suggests a possible update to Bayonetta 3.

PlatinumGames has made several announcements since last year on its website, with four of them already revealed. One of the remaining uncovered ads, however, has been changed to 2021. This update corresponds to a recent interview by Hideki Kamiya, in which he revealed that we will hear more about the game’s development later this year. This update was given during the recent Arcade Archives streams, in which he briefly delved into his current projects.

He last spoke of Bayonetta 3 in May 2020, in a full interview, assuring fans that Bayonetta 3 has not been canceled. After being asked by the interviewer “Finally, Kamiya-san, are you bored of being asked about where Bayonetta 3 is it yet? “Kamiya replied:

I’m on Twitter, so I see a lot of comments every day. I’m glad there is still an expectation for the title, but one thing I would like to address is the trend that I am seeing, which is from people who are starting to ask if the game has been canceled. I want you to take any concerns you have like this and throw them out the window right away, because we’re still working on it and it hasn’t been canceled in any way. Please wait!

In February, the Bayonetta and Vanquish’s 10th anniversary package released for Xbox One and PS4. We reviewed it and “in addition to a beautiful steel box for physical editing, Bayonetta and Vanquish’s 10th anniversary package doesn’t have much more to offer. PlatinumGames also published on its official website an interview with the team working on the internal engine that the studio is developing, which was provisionally called the Platinum Engine.

PlatinumGames also announced in 2020 that four major announcements, Platinum 4, were coming and three of them have already taken place. The Wonderful 101 Remaster Kickstarter. The revelation of GG Project, a new game directed by Hideki Kamiya and on the Viewtiful Joe and The Wonderful 101. And the launch of a new PlatinumGames studio in Tokyo. The fourth and final announcement has yet to be shared, but Hideki Kamiya and Atsushi Inaba of PlatinumGames said it will be soon and it will be something incredible.

In happier news, PlatinumGames and Hideki Kamiya published their own April Fool’s Day joke on April 1 as the fourth and final announcement of Platinum 4. Through a video posted to its official Twitter account, PlatinumGames reveals its new arcade system, the Neo-Classic Arcade, and its first game, Sol Presta, apparently developed in collaboration with Hamster Corp.
