PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A passenger plane slid off the taxiway at Pittsburgh International Airport on Wednesday.

Authorities say that around 6:30 pm, a Delta Air Line plane – flight number 2231 – departing for Atlanta with 77 people on board “left a taxiway” before takeoff near runway 10R. Officials say there were no reports of injuries.

The buses were dispatched to the plane, and all 77 people were disembarked and taken to the airport terminal at about 9.40 pm, officials said.
Passengers said they stayed on the plane for three hours while first aid tried to find the best way to get everyone out, because the plane was tilted upwards.
The airport remains open and there was no impact on other operations.

Delta Air Lines issued a statement, saying:
“During taxi-out before departure, Delta flight 2231 from Pittsburgh to Atlanta left the paved surface of the taxiway. Delta teams worked with the airport authority to safely transport customers back to the terminal. We apologize to our customers for the delay and inconvenience and are working to re-accommodate them as soon as possible. “
Delta is providing another passenger plane that will take off at around 12:30 pm on Thursday.

Weather conditions were not ideal at the time of the incident. The National Meteorological Service reported that light snow was falling at the time. They also reported fog and haze conditions, as well as three-quarters of a mile of visibility.
