As revealed earlier this month by an inadvertent retail list, Google is ending Verizon’s exclusivity on the Clearly White Pixel 4a 5G by launching an unlocked model. With 5G Sub-6 connectivity, it sells today for $ 499 in four countries.
In addition to the “Clearly White” polycarbonate rear case, there is a mint green on / off button on this Pixel 4a 5G. The almost uniform bezel – thicker bottom edge – around the 6.2-inch screen remains black for a subtle two-tone appearance that slightly distinguishes this economical phone and gives buyers more choice in the appearance department.
Compared to the Verizon model, it leaves the mmWave radio and is $ 100 cheaper as a result. By late Wednesday night / early Thursday morning, B&H and Amazon already have orders open at $ 459 through January 31.
Update: The Pixel 4a 5G is now available unlocked and in Clearly White on the Google Store. Orders placed today arrive later this week. This model is accessible in the U.S., Canada, Taiwan, and Japan. It’s not currently on Google Fi, which is in a separate agreement.
The Pixel 4a 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 765G with 6 GB of RAM and a battery of 3,800 mAh. It is the same processor as the Pixel 5, but it follows the Pixel 4a in the RAM department. The most important similarity to the flagship is the dual lens configuration of a 12.2MP rear camera and 16MP ultra-wide camera. The 3.5 mm headset is another important component, although there is no wireless charging or IP protection.
This Clearly White Pixel 4a 5G is hitting the market in a scenario similar to the unlocked Barely Blue Pixel 4a. When the $ 349 phone was launched last August, Google said it could only offer one color due to manufacturing restrictions. However, three months later, the company managed to cast another hue in both the U.S. and Japan.
