Pixar’s Soul made history the week of Christmas when it took first place in Nielsen’s streaming ratings the week of Christmas.
The computer-animated film made history for Pixar and its parent company, The Walt Disney Company, by becoming the first feature film to reach the top of the streaming ratings, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Behind Soul came the workplace comedy The Office, which has had a strong performance for Netflix in recent years.

Soul took first place in the week of December 21st to 27th, with viewers broadcasting it for around 1.67 billion minutes.
This would be equivalent to watching the movie all the way about 16.5 million times, as the film is 101 minutes long, although many viewers counted in the streaming numbers have seen only parts of the film.
Soul stars Jamie Foxx as its main character Joe Gardner, a talented jazz pianist who struggles to progress as an artist while feeling tied up by students who help pay the bills.
After a careless accident, he finds himself in a land beyond life, where he has the task of helping a wandering soul (Tina Fey) to find his passion so that she can be born in a body.
The film has almost universal acclaim and currently boasts an impressive 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Soul debuted on the Disney + streaming service, but unlike its less well received live action remake, Mulan, subscribers didn’t have to pay an additional fee to access it.

Second among streaming ratings was The Office, a longtime favorite of viewers.
It was broadcast for 1.44 billion minutes while viewers rushed to watch it before leaving Netflix.
Office had been available to Netflix writers for years and was among the service’s most popular offerings, but it was switched to NBC’s new streaming service, Peacock, at the beginning of the new year.
The streamer has various price levels and the first two seasons of the program are available for free, but seasons three through nine are only available to paid subscribers.
To attract new viewers, Peacock offers extended versions of some episodes that incorporate deleted scenes.
Peacock is not among the streamers surveyed by Nielsen at the moment, but he and HBO Max are expected to be added soon.

Because of the proximity of the Christmas holiday, viewers turned to festive films to mark the season.
Jim Carrey’s live-action adaptation of How The Grinch Stole Christmas was watched for 705 million minutes to reach sixth, and Netflix’s The Christmas Chronicles 2 was watched for 660 minutes in ninth.
Completing the top 10 in streaming were The Crown (700 million minutes), Grey’s Anatomy (691 million minutes) and Criminal Minds (648 million minutes), all available for streaming on Netflix.
