PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh native Michael Keaton will take on the role of Batman in a film opening in 2022.
Brooks Barnes of the New York Times interviewed DC Films president Walter Hamada and learned that 69-year-old Keaton, as well as Ben Affleck, would play Batman in the Warner Bros. film. “The Flash”. The film will “connect the two universes and present two Batmans”, reports the NYT.
Barnes also accessed Twitter to confirm the news.
“Based on his article on Hamada, some have interpreted that WB is making two franchises starring Batman, one with Pattinson, the other with a new actor. Is this correct or were you referring to Keaton as a second Batman, being part of a saga not centered on Batman? Thank you, ”said Nestor Cine, founder of Since Hollywood, a bilingual film news site.

Later, some fans understood that this meant that Keaton would play the superhero in the new film and beyond. Barnes quickly rejected that rumor.

Keaton made his debut as Batman in Tim Burton’s “Batman”, 1989, and in the 1992 “Batman Returns” sequel.
In 2017, the acclaimed actor received the title of Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University.
