Pistons trade Derrick Rose for Knicks for Dennis Smith Jr. – The Athletic

After a week of waiting and deliberation, the Pistons found a business partner for Derrick Rose.

General manager Troy Weaver chose the Knicks, who agreed to send 23-year-old owner Dennis Smith Jr. and Charlotte for the second round (who owns New York) to Detroit via Rose, sources told The Athletic.

The choice of the second round is currently in 40th place.

Rose missed out on Detroit’s last three games – first for “stomach ache”, then “rest” and then “for personal reasons – while the Pistons talked to several teams in the league simultaneously to find a good trading partner.

By sources, Rose and the Pistons agreed that an exchange would be better for both sides. Detroit, which is 5 to 17 years old and is undergoing reconstruction, is moving more towards its youth as the season progresses, while Rose can still provide a significant spark for a team in the playoffs.
