Pistons allegedly buying Derrick Rose for Knicks, other teams

The Detroit Pistons may not wait until the March 25 deadline to move veteran point guard Derrick Rose.

The Pistons are reportedly involved in negotiations to move Rose to the New York Knicks. Other teams are interested, but in any case, Rose seems destined to be moved.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that the Knicks are trying to acquire Rose and that other teams are interested. He reported that Detroit and Rose agreed that an exchange would be better for both sides.

Rose, 32, played 15 games, averaging 14.2 points and 4.2 assists.

The Pistons signed a two-year contract worth $ 15 million with Rose on July 6, 2019, when they intended to compete for a playoff spot. Now that they are in a complete rebuild and starting from 5 to 17, it makes little sense for them to keep the former NBA MVP.

Rose is in the final year of her $ 7.6 million contract. He was inactive in Saturday night’s game at the Los Angeles Lakers, the third consecutive game he has not played.

Rose averaged 18.1 points and 5.6 assists in 50 games for Detroit in 2019-20.

The Knicks are 11-13 and expect to play for a playoff spot. If they get Rose, it will be their second pass with the team. He appeared in 64 games for New York in 2016-17, averaging 18.0 points and 4.4 assists.

The Pistons could have moved Rose in the negotiation deadline last year, when they unloaded other veterans (Andre Drummond through exchange; Reggie Jackson and Markieff Morris through acquisitions), but they relented because he was not supposed to leave.
